Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.
A senior political figure commented the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
